Welcome to Centre of AI Innovation (CE.A.I)

The Centre of AI Innovation (CE.A.I.) is a centre that aims to bridge Artificial Intelligence with humans. It connects training providers, institutes of higher learning, professionals and artificial intelligence experts/specialists – and acts as an effective platform between industry needs and required competencies.

It is also a centre that provides opportunities to Build, Operate and Solve market needs and pain points by creating AI solutions through partnerships and workshops or programmes such as; Capacity Building workshops, Research & Advocacy, Design Leap Programmes and 1-on-1 Consultative sessions.

CE.A.I. hopes to build an ecosystem that allows interaction between different communities in understanding, learning and adopting AI better as it integrates into our lives.

Datuk Dr Mohd Daud Bakar
Datuk Dr Mohd Daud BakarChairman of CE.A.I (M), Chairman of MyFinB (M)

Datuk Dr Mohd Daud Bakar is a strong advocator of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology since 2012. He has been regarded as being one of the early adopters and investors of AI, having been directly involved in the formation of Malaysia’s first analytics centre to conduct the R&D and use of AI across many industry verticals – such as, but not limited to, financial services, Islamic banking and finance, education, social impact, legal, consumer, government policies, sports and more.

Datuk Dr. Mohd Daud Bakar is also the Founder and Executive Chairman of Amanie Group. Besides, he currently serves as the Chairman of the Shariah Advisory Council at the Central Bank of Malaysia, the Securities Commission of Malaysia, the Labuan Financial Services Authority, and the First Abu Dhabi Bank. In addition, he is a Shariah board member of various global financial institutions

A strategic thinker and visionary, Datuk Dr Mohd Daud was also the Chief Managing Editor of Malaysian Business Magazine, where amongst others, he provided strategic inputs and overall direction to the AI segment in the publication.

M Nazri

Nazri specialises in AI and cognitive analytics, having spent more than two decades as a practitioner in these fields. He currently heads a venture builder company and is currently the Founder/Group CEO of one of the award-winning tech companies, called MyFinB. Nazri successfully led the Group to be named Asia-Pacific’s Top 25 Hottest Fintech Companies in Asia Pacific and Top 30 Globally Most Attractive Companies, awarded by APAC CIOOutlook and The Silicon Review respectively in 2018.

Nazri was recently named by Islamica500 as one of the world’s top 500 prominent and influential personalities in the Islamic world and economy (A.I./Fintech category). Nazri was also awarded the Young Business Leader Award in 2010 (APAC) by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry for adopting innovative business models in his businesses.

Prior to his entrepreneurial journey, Nazri was part of the investment and research team of major asset management groups like Citigroup and Prudential and an international ratings agency (Fitch Ratings), covering financial institutions in Asia.

Regarded as one of the early pioneers to deploy AI-based analytics in Asia-Pacific, Nazri plays a leading role in the digital transformation for the financial sector and SME development in the region. He is also a regular contributor on A.I-related topics in The Malaysian Business magazine, made various media appearances and spoke on the topic in various parts of Europe, Asia, Africa and Middle East.

Nazri has an MBA from University of Western Australia and a bachelor’s degree in accountancy and economics from the University of Queensland, Australia.

S.B. Lim

S.B. is COO of MyFinB (M) and Co-founder of CE.A.I (M).

Previously, S.B. was a former CFO of United Parcel Service (UPS, Malaysia Operation), a US Fortune 500 Companies. His experiences include various assignment in Finance & Accounting, Project Management, both in UPS international and Malaysia for two decades. In 2014, S.B. started his financial management and consulting practice, specializing in Balance Scorecard Matrix and performance management analytics.

S.B. is a Fellow Member and Chartered Global Management Accountant (FCMA, CGMA) of Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA, UK), Chartered Accountant of Malaysia Institute of Accountants (MIA), Associate Member of Chartered Tax Institute of Malaysia (CTIM), as well as licensed tax practitioner in Malaysia.

Ridzuan Abdul Aziz

Ridzuan Aziz has 21 years of multi-dimensions experience in managing commercially-oriented regulatory environment as regulator, consultant (to banks, insurance underwriters, remittances, fund management entities, broker dealers as well as sovereign wealth institutions) and as technopreneurs.

Knowledgeable about financial regulatory requirements based on common law and international financial centers, compliance risks management, framework for Anti-Money Laundering/Counter Terrorist Financing/Know Your Client/Client Due Diligence/Market Conduct, as well as strategic and tactical implementation of financial and regulatory technology.

Currently, (1) Country Director of WorldRemit Malaysia, an approved e-remittance company with licenses in 50 other countries, (2) International advisor to the Labuan Financial services authority, (3) Member of the Malaysia Innovation Policy Council, (4) co-founders to 4 technology-based companies.

Bala Subramaniam
Bala SubramaniamPartner of CE.A.I (M)

Mr. Bala Subramaniam is currently partner of CE.A.I MyFinB. He is also the founding member of the Firm RBS & Associates, a 20-year-old professional firm.

In the course of his practice, he has had vast and varied experience in accountancy including corporate restructuring, listing exercises and management consultancy in his capacity as auditors, reporting accountants, liquidators, receivers and managers and tax consultants.

Mr. Bala is an ardent proponent of leveraging on technology and toward this end is a fan of robotic process accounting and cloud computing.

He qualified as a chartered accountant in 1986 and was attached to KPMG before leaving to commenced practice in 1988. He is a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants and is also a Fellow of the Australian CPA. He is an approved liquidator and Receiver and is a member of the Insolvency Practice Association of Malaysia (IPAM) and a licensed tax agent under section 153 of the Income Tax Act 1967.

Tan Poh Ling
Tan Poh LingPartner of CE.A.I (M)

Tan Poh Ling is partner of CE.A.I (M) and managing partner of Total International Associates,an audit firm in Malaysia formed since 2004.

She possesses vast experience in servicing public listed companies involving auditing, advice on group accounts, performing due diligence for acquisition, M&A, advise on business intelligence and data analytics for business improvements, advice on corporate governance and restructuring businesses. Her clients are from various industries ranging from manufacturing, trading, construction, e-Commerce, tele-communication, advisory services, fintech & medical supplies and services.

Previously, Poh Ling’s career started at a Big Four and then she moved on to be a former regional CFO for a UK based multi-national construction company before she founded her own accounting firm. She merged her firm with Morison Anuarul Azizan Chew, a mid size audit firm in 2012 before rebrand TPL & Associates to Total International Associates in 2016.

Through out the years, Poh Ling has delivered her services in multiple countries such as Indonesia, Cambodia, Hong Kong and Singapore.

Poh Ling’s specialties are in areas of accounting, business, tax & GST advisory. She obtained her qualifications from Malaysian Institute Of Certified Public Accountant (MICPA). She is also a member of Malaysian Institute Of Accountant (MIA), Chartered Taxation Institute Of Malaysia (CTIM) and Financial Planning Association Of Malaysia (FPAM).

Ahmad Lutfi Abdull Mutalip
Ahmad Lutfi Abdull MutalipPartner of CE.A.I (M)

He is a partner of CE.A.I (M) and Managing Parter of Azmi & Associates.

Lutfi is responsible for the development of the Financial Services Practice Group and the Mergers, Acquisitions and New Ventures Practice Group. Lutfi has also presented a number of papers at various seminars on Islamic Banking in Malaysia and Singapore.

Previously, he joined Messrs Hisham, Sobri & Kadir in Aprill 1996 and had advised various clients in numerous exercises ranging from private debt securities, syndicated financing, structured & project financing, privatization and build-operate-transfer/build-operate-own projects including water privatization, mergers & acquisitions, energy & power related transactions, oil & gas, joint ventures to telecommunication projects and building contracts. He became a partner of Hisham Sobri & Kadir Advocates & Solicitors in January 2000. Lutfi is admitted to the Malaysian Bar in 1996.

He graduated from the International Islamic University Malaysia with an LL.B (Hons.) in 1995. Lutfi has also obtained his professional qualification from the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA) and graduated from the Institute in February 1996.

Paul W Chan

Paul Chan is a partner of CE.A.I (M) and President and Co-Founder of Malaysian Alliance of Corporate Directors (MACD).

Paul’s professional, business and corporate experiences span decades in leadership capacities in Public Accounting, Auditing, Financial, Business and Corporate Advisory Services in a variety of industries. He has served over a dozen Boards and Committees ranging from Publicly Traded to Privately-Owned Companies, Regulatory Committees and not-for-profit Professional entities; he is an all-round corporate professional.

The industries Paul currently serves in at Board Governance include IT Software Services and Education, Industrial Chemical, and Asset Management. Formerly, he had served on boards of Life Insurance and Financial Services, Multi-Port Facilities Operator, Cold-roll Steel Processing and an Industrial Group. The not-for-profit professional entities he has taken leadership of include that of public accountants, corporate secretaries, corporate governance, corporate directors, and financial and wealth management professionals.

Paul is also Vice President I of FPLC (Federation of Public Listed Companies) and Executive Committee Member of GNDI (Global Network of Director Institutes.) He is an IIRC Ambassador of the International Integrated Reporting Council, UK, and also serves on the Advisory Board of FutureBoards SA, Oslo, Norway.

He has delivered numerous presentations in forums, seminars, workshops and conferences, both locally and internationally, on issues relating to Board Governance, Corporate Directorship, Business Continuity and Succession Planning, and Financial Planning. Paul is the President of Business Transitions Asia Sdn Bhd, a business strategic advisory firm.

A Chartered Accountant, a Fellow Member of, respectively, the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA, UK), the Institute of Chartered Secretaries & Administrators (FCIS, UK) and CPA Australia (FCPA), he is also an NACD Governance Fellow and NACD Board Leadership Fellow of the National Association of Corporate Directors, USA, and a Life-Member of Ascend Pinnacle Pan-Asian Corporate Directors, USA.

Masumi Hamahira
Masumi HamahiraPartner of CE.A.I (M)

Masumi Hamahira is a partner of CE.A.I (M) and Advisor for Islamic Finance Department of MUFG Bank (Malaysia)

Masumi has more than 19 years working experience in the banking and finance industry at MUFG Bank and was appointed as Advisor for Islamic Finance Department of MUFG Bank (Malaysia) in 2011.

Before coming to Malaysia, Masumi was attached to several key divisions in the Tokyo Head office of MUFG Bank. He was responsible for corporate finance, derivative marketing and structuring as well as global business planning.

Leveraging Masumi’s experience, MUFG Bank (Malaysia) won Islamic Finance News Awards such as The Most Innovative Deal of the Year 2016, Cross-Border Deal of the Year 2014, Wakalah Deal of the Year 2013, and Structured Finance Deal of the Year 2012. Subsequently, he initiated the world’s first Japanese Yen Sukuk issuance by MUFG Bank (Malaysia) in 2014.

Masumi graduated from Chartered Islamic Finance Professional (CIFP) course at INCEIF. He is currently a Ph.D candidate at IIUM Institute of Islamic Banking and Finance, International Islamic University Malaysia. He aspires to contribute more significantly to the Islamic Finance industry by sharing of industry knowledge with the public. He holds a Bachelor Degree in Economics from Keio University, Japan.

Masumi is a Chartered Professional in Islamic Finance (CPIF) and has been appointed as a Grand Councillor for Chartered Institute of Islamic Finance Professionals (CIIF).

Design LEAP

Design LEAP’ is designed by MyFinB to carry out an accelerated approach towards building an analytical blueprint to help our DIAL partners develop a mock-up / prototype over 5 days for a specific project. This is done by engaging the relevant stakeholders to identify the pain points or key issues that are material in nature and can lead to substantial savings or gains.

We use mindmaps, flowcharts and genograms as the key tools to map out the customer user journey and flow of information.
