CEAI issues Scholarships for AI Certificate courses to Brunei graduates
:
Brunei, 31 March 2022 – Centre for AI Innovation (CEAI) in Brunei awarded scholarships to six graduates (3 males/3 females) today, to pursue the Applied Analytics program commencing in April 2022. Through these contributions, more youth will become AI-ready employees or entrepreneurs without the need for coding or programming.
With the mission to bring about positive change by changing mindsets, by adopting digitization and by pursuing a non-traditional approach towards learning and using technologies, Centre for AI Innovation (CEAI) plans to develop Future Ready Graduates (FRG) by linking them to a portfolio of projects and mentors to tackle industry pain points.
Mr. Mukhriz mentioned ”Looking at the world today, we see a huge mismatch between the skills young people have, and the skills employers need. Without opportunities to build the right skills, millions of youth will struggle to find jobs and risk being left behind. We can’t let that happen. That’s why it’s crucial for governments, businesses, educators and civil society leaders to rapidly come together more so than ever”.
Broadly, CEAI@Brunei would provide three key steps that, businesses and government leaders could take to address the skills gap and youth unemployment.
1. Create a skill mapping system to define skills, categories and ways to measure competence in AI and smart technologies. The system would be scalable and adaptable for local and global applications. A personalized learning roadmap is key to identifying the gap and making the framework for educational and training opportunities.
2. Use a specialized AI certification program to support a national skills-building program across key clusters for Brunei. By linking elements from certification programs with a government-led national policy framework, stakeholders can help establish a national skills development program that is high-quality, scalable, and cost-efficient.
3. Develop regional and national skills forums to improve information sharing among key stakeholders including employers, educators, governments, associations and youth.
It is a proud moment for CEAI Brunei to announce the scholarship awards to the six promising Bruneian students, who have been shortlisted from Uni Tech Brunei / UBD / IGS College. They are selected based on their tenacity to succeed, mindset for change and overall academic conduct. 3 males and 3 females, who will go through the program in the next 3 months to be transformed into an AI-ready graduate, without the need for coding or programming.
The 6 awardees would be working on solutions in the areas of renewable energy, web analytics, healthcare, economics and marketing, which are also in alignment with the United Nation’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
As PCAA leads the digital transformation for Brunei, with the support of CEAI@Brunei the local and young talents at Brunei will be developing globally scalable Digital AI asset with a high export potential. This will also serve as a pathway for them to become AIPreneurs, attracting Private Equity and Venture Capital funding opportunities through the global network of Centre for AI Innovation.
For CEAI Brunei, by preparing Future Ready Graduates, and supporting their innovations with the Applied Analytics program, is a journey that could mark a deep impact, and touch lives positively, changing the way we work, live and play.
